Summary
Using SwiftView, the Superannuation Commission of British Columbia, Canada, gives all current and past employees online access
to information about their retirement accounts.
Challenge and Results
British Columbia Ministry of Finance Superannuation Commission ("Superann") manages all retirement accounts for
all current and past BC Provincial public employees. They have over 10M documents on line and are adding
many more each day. Approximately 175 substantially active NT workstations use SwiftView to
access documents via a DEC Alpha OSF/1 system running SwiftServe. Browsing and document selection is provided via thumbnails
on a web browser. Simple WWW CGI links generate ICS commands for SwiftView clients to access all documents via SwiftServe
and TCP/IP.
The original integrator of this system was Gateway File Systems of Victoria BC. GDS & Assoc., also of
Victoria, BC, now performs all system maintenance and enhancements. Phil Arctander of GDS says they are unable to
perceive any SwiftServe load on the Alpha server which is also providing WWW and other services.
